Parish schools increase score by six points

According to state performance scores, Richland Parish Schools have improved slightly from last year’s grade.
The Louisiana Department of Education released 2016 Performance Scores and Letter Grades for public schools on Nov. 17. Richland Parish received a District Letter Grade of C with an annual District Performance Score of 70.9. The DPS improved 6 points from the 2014-2015 school year.
The district gained three progress points from growth in the high schools.
Schools in Richland Parish also received performance scores for the 2015-2016 school year with 7 of 11 schools showing increases.
Leading the district again this year was Mangham Elementary School with a score of 95.0/B. Special recognition goes to Mangham High School and Rayville High School for increasing their score a letter grade.
“Special thanks to our students, parents, educators, and greater school community for improving many of our annual performance scores,” Superintendent Sheldon Jones said. “Our school district remains committed to implementing best practices to improve student achievement.”
Full parish school performance scores for 2016 are as follows:
• Richland Parish, 70.9/C;
• Delhi High School, 62.3/D;
• Delhi Middle School, 50.4/D;
• Delhi Elementary School, 30.5/F;
• Holly Ridge Elementary School, 53.4/D;
• Mangham Elementary School, 95.0/B;
• Mangham High School, 91.2/B;
• Mangham Junior High School, 77.2/C;
• Rayville High School, 76.3/C;
• Rayville Junior High School, 41.9/F;
• Rayville Elementary School, 33.4/F; and
• Start Elementary School, 82.5 /C.
