American Legion Auxiliary plans Giving Tuesday event

The American Legion Auxiliary Foundation Giving Tuesday is Nov. 29.
Giving Tuesday celebrates the act of giving – on the Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday. On Nov. 29, the American Legion Auxiliary community will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
It is the opportunity to join more than 10,000 partners around the world in encouraging giving on Giving Tuesday. Just as the retail world has benefitted from coordinating national shopping days across many brands and platforms, Giving Tuesday does the same for organizations dedicated to serving our communities through philanthropy.
In Richland Parish the Auxiliary will be collecting blankets and pillows for veterans residing at the NELA Veterans Home in Monroe. The drive is from Nov. 29 to Dec. 9.
“We need 165 new twin or full warm blankets and new standard pillows,” Cyndi Perritt Mix. “Collection locations are Citizens Progressive Bank, Richland Parish Library - Rayville and Richland State Bank. In lieu of a physical donation we are also accepting monetary donations to support this project or other endeavors that ensure we are helping our veterans.”
